Ultimate Outfit Tips The Best-Dressed Employed Girlies Actually Gatekeep

Props to the employed girlies who have their outfit on point.

Hello everyone. I’m happy y’all are back to see new fits

The first week of school drained me, not gonna lie. And now I got to adjust to this new era of life-limiting my partying to a minimum, finding my first romantic partner, and building up my career.

But with a new era comes a change in my personal style.

At this point, call me the Black Ms. Frizzle teacher wardrobe. A wardrobe full of patterns, silhouettes, and fun when it comes to dressing my busty petite bawdy molded by the gym and a run club to match.

But curating my wardrobe was not easy. Here’s how I dominated the transitional style.

This Outfit Has a Statement Clothing Staple

Desi's outfit includes: a stripe cropped shirt, a white bodysuit, ruffled pants, and pink sneakers.
Outfit Details – Shirt + Top: Fast fashion brands, Pants and Scarf (as a belt): thrifted from Thrift Pony, Shoes: Adidas Gazelles

One thing about me, I love a good statement piece, or in DES2IMPRESS terms a personality piece.

I thrifted these pants that I thought were from Fashion Nova or PrettyLittleThing. Actually, these pants were vintage, noting how these current trends stemmed from decades ago. Polyester was appropriate for the ruffling effect on the body, but I liked how they had a premium viscose lining that felt very, very comfortable.

I paired the pants with a blue/green striped cropped shirt from years ago that I still wear that always hits at my waist (what waist?). The scarf worn as a belt + pink sneakers added additional color to the outfit. This was the perfect outfit to wear for the first day of school, with a school t-shirt (not pictured).

Elevate With A Monochromatic Outfit

Desi's outfit includes: a green top and skirt, a striped top, and brown sandals.
Outfit Details – Top: Marcella NYC, Skirt: J. Crew, Sandals: Dolce Vita, Shirt: Fast Fashion

I had co-workers asking if it was a dress.

Pairing two items with the closest color match elevated my looks. Every. Single. Time.

To keep it work-appropriate, I wore a shirt the outfit brings out the stunning green stripes.

Seeing this image, I look TANNED. So if you want to ‘tan’ your skin without tanning, that’s the secret.

Re-Imagine Cultural Taboos

Desi's outfit includes: a black top, floral skirt, and pink sneakers.
Outfit Details – Top: Fast fashion, Skirt: Thrifted Talbots, Sneakers: Adidas Gazelles

Not gonna lie, I two would’ve given the “old lady” skirt a bombastic side eye years ago.

Since I curated a work closet during my unemployed era, modesty was one of my priorities.

Aside from work, I’d wear this skirt to a little tea party or even farmers’ market shopping with a cute low-cut top accentuating my bust, especially my Hanifa corset top or my Marcella NYC off-white tank top.

Pay attention to what I did differently with the skirt for work.

I added safety pins to gather parts of the skirt into an avant-garde piece that the masses pray to have their hands on for months.

And it worked for a curvy petite that usually gets lost in fuller volume pieces.

Layer Dress Code Taboos

Desi's outfit includes: a t-shirt, a red dress, jeans, and pink sneakers.
Outfit Details – Dress: Heiress Beverly Hills, T-Shirt: my school, Jeans: Thrifted, Shoes: Adidas Gazelles

The Heiress Beverly Hills dress is a hit on its own and over a pair of jeans (seen on a past post).

If you are in a workplace and got you wearing a t-shirt on their spirit days, try laying a favorite going out top or dress over it. Thank me later.

The amount of compliments is astounding. The one compliment that stood out the most is that I ‘dress like a Bratz doll.’

Thank you for adding that new word to my personal style description.

Expect to see a lot of these outfit posts in the future. Witness the magic I will make that shapes the trajectory of fashion forever.

As always meet again in the next blog. Get up to date with our last post.
