I attempted blogging 3 times before starting this blog, how did I get here?
I Deleted My First Blog
My identity issues started in 6th grade, in 2010. I discovered my style through fashion magazines, style bloggers, and the TV show ‘Shake It Up’ as a coping mechanism.
I attempted to become one of the youngest fashion influencers by starting a blog.
Don’t tell me what my first blog title was, I attempted to delete it after the embarrassment of posting photoshopped Lady Gaga pictures.
Pink Bows and Glitter Shoes Was Popping Until…
Transitioning from middle to high school I discovered ‘what did the popular girls wear?’ I fine-tuned it discovering “the preppy style.”
I collected oxford shirts, colorful pants, statement necklaces, and seasonal pieces. Inspired by Sarahbelle93x’s feed on Pinterest, I had fun mixing and matching pieces.
In 2013, I created a new blog to match: Pink Bows and Glitter Shoes.
But the junior year of high school came and I was booked and busy.
No lie, AP English kicked my butt. I had no time to film videos, blog, none of that. I blogged a few times here and there, but that was it.
Continuing Content with Des To Impress
By the time I left high school, I was over the preppy aesthetic. It was time for a name change to Des To Impress in 2017.
I believe I set it up using a new blogging platform or scrapped the old website on the same platform.
I went back and forth between blogging and YouTube-ing making sure my fashion content was visible on Beyoncé’s internet.
How DES2IMPRESS Started
In 2020 I started a styling platform called DES2IMPRESS (now Desi Smith Styles), preparing my portfolio for my next styling opportunity. In 2024, I decided to use DES2IMPRESS to pursue this chance to refresh my blogging hobby and share my love for fashion and lifestyle.
Cheers to changing the blogging game starting in 2024.
